kanye-west-taylor-swift-speech_482x396In a world that changes on a dime, a few things still seem immutable. Like what goes up, must come down. Most reality show couples won’t last longer than the milk in my fridge. No matter who he offends on stage, Kanye West will always be welcome at the MTV Video Music Awards. But the one that really irks me, is that once a diet is over, 95% of people will regain those lost pounds, plus more.

Those odds suck, don’t you think? But each year 70 million people still attempt to lose weight convinced that this time it will be different. Unfortunately, it won’t. Not until there is a greater national understanding about yo-yo dieting and weight loss maintenance. That’s why I ask you to share your insights in this quick, three minute survey about the vicious cycle of weight lost and found - http://tinyurl.com/2akxlcp  (Insert dramatic pause or a drum roll here, whichever you prefer.)

Yes, we’re going to tackle this frustrating situation right now. And your participation will make a big difference. Responses are completely confidential.  If you’d like to be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift card, instructions appear at the end of this survey. Please ask your friends, family members, co-workers, anyone you’ve ever met to share their two cents as well. I plan to share these findings in my book on life after weight loss and future blog posts.

Thanks for your time and your willingness to be heard! Meanwhile, tell us what annoys you the most about regaining lost pounds.

  1. what a great idea, at last somebody trying to find out the why and not simply the how immediate 'beach body', x-mas etc etc. diet...... we have all seen the 1000 and 1 miracle (yeah right) diets but its going to be interesting to see if they really work or in fact dieting cannot be simply a fad...... surely we have to change our long term thoughts about our weight, appearances and what causes us to follow diets and ultimately get the munchies and give up. Good luck with the survey and I hope this comment helps me win the gift card :)

  2. Thanks Justin! Appreciate your time in filling out the survey and getting your friends to do the same. We want to hear from men and women of all ages!

Hell, I better win the gift card !!!! Its all about portion !!!!!

  4. I can't wait to hear what you learn from this!

  5. I look forward to hearing the results! I just completed the survey!

  6. I looked this statistic up recently too, and it's bogus. Apparently they think the real number is like 60% and that includes multiple attempts to lose weight (good luck finding someone who succeeds at losing weight in only one attempt!) . Can't remember where I found that though, drat!

  7. Submitted my responses and can't wait to hear the results...and see the book!!
