There are over 11 million online references to weight loss blogs. At least, that’s what Google tells me in reporting its search results. Eleven million, people – that’s the same number of viewers that watched the recent finale of Glee, and the amount of jobs the AFL-CIO claims have been lost during the recession. The point is that a whole lot of people are blogging about weight loss. Some of them are just starting out on their journey, while others try to actively impart what they’ve learned along the way. Here are three I follow who use their compelling voices to make a difference.
Roni Noone started www.ronisweigh.com to keep family members posted on her pregnancy. After she lost 70 pounds more than five years ago, it has evolved into something much bigger. In addition to a second blog on food, she launched www.BlogToLose.com to help others. This community of more than 3,700 people blogs not only to lose weight but to reach goals in general. “The sole idea of having this place to go and talk about your thoughts and feelings while you are going through a change is really powerful,” notes Roni.
Interested in the perspective of a reforming yo-yo dieter? Then you can’t miss Karen from www.waistingtimeblog.com. Reading Karen’s humorous, relatable entries makes me feel like I’m at a coffee shop catching up with an old friend. As she explains, "I decided to write a blog in hopes that I will inspire and motivate myself. If anyone reads my words and shares my journey (or their journey), all the better. And while I am typing I can’t be eating." Her posts often strike a chord with readers, who post comments and are delighted to receive a response in return.
Then there is Diane at www.fittothefinish.com. A mother of seven kids, she lost 150 pounds 12 years ago in a healthy manner and now helps others do the same. Her blog offers great advice and how to tips for getting in better shape, healthy living and more. No wonder Diane has built a huge following .
Has reading a blog ever helped you claim a healthier lifestyle?

Saw you over at Karen's post today! You have come far! I learn something from every blog I read.... we never know enough & there is always more we can learn!
Hi Jody. Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I love spotlighting what interesting people like Karen are doing in some of my posts. BTW, I am SERIOUSLY jealous of your abs. You look amazing!
Yes Darling, your blog has been very inspiring to me !!!!!
Love you.
Thanks mom! Though I bet you wouldn't read it if your first born didn't write it.
Thanks Shira! I love sharing my story, but I also love meeting great people along the way. I have learned a LOT from my readers about foods I never would have tried and ways to prepare my old favorites. I am continually inspired by their wisdom and dedication. So glad to have connected with you through the blogging community - you are wonderful!
Diane, it is a pleasure recognizing what you and other great bloggers do!
Hmm ... Jenette Fulda's incredible loss inspires me, and her writing can be fun & snarky, so I like that she has personality, and that she struggles like a real person.
Otherwise, I'd have to say that WRITING my blog has helped me have a healthier lifestyle. The fact that I check in with myself, think things through, decide what to do. And hold myself accountable.
Thanks Sarah. Just checked out your blog and enjoyed your posts and I also think Jenette Fulda is funny and inspirational. Appreciate your thoughts!
Thanks again Shira:) And what great company I was in!
Karen, my pleasure recognizing your great blog! Best of luck dealing with the ghosts of July 4th eating past - great post!
Hi Shira -- As a weight loss coach -- blogs inspire me all the time! It is great to read other people's perspective and I love recipes.
Reading other blogs inspired me to start my own.
I am glad I found yours through Karen's blog.
Jennifer
Hi Jenn. Just checked out your blog and it is great - who knew water could come in a box with so much better results than the crossover with wine. Looking forward to your future posts!
Blogging makes me sane first with healthy following along just behind. It's the first time in 30 years that a down "yo" hasn't been immediately followed by an up "yo" and that's all thanks to online blabbing.
(Tripped over your blog today and am really enjoying it!)
